An MFA research project by Dunedin based visual artist Maggie Covell. The project looked at mental health + body autonomy issues connected to individuals who identify as female within NZ society, and was interested in the creation of temporary communities through participation.
The installation at 23 Princes street was phase two of the overall project, and included a series of free public workshops which invited members of the public to make signs (in protest) about their own experiences with mental health and body autonomy. They were also invited to respond to a series of stories from online focus groups, by making wallpaper treatments.
The final outcome was a free large scale art installation comprised of the participants work. There was a free public closing showcase event featuring Ōtepoti musicians, who performed a piece made in response to the works made by the public.
