This iteration of Resilience was made possible by funding received from the Ministry of Culture and Heritage to transform the live theatre piece (premiering at the Dunedin Fringe and part of our 2021 programme) into a filmed experience to be projected or screened around Dunedin City from December 2021 to April 2022.
This film explores the 2020 and 2021 Covid-19 lockdowns through the lens of a family’s living room. It draws from the experiences of many during this time - from the first announcement, the lockdown, fights, bread making, boredom, homeschooling horrors, birthdays, zoom conversations, and board game tantrums - to show the family ultimately coming together to build resilience.
Recorded in a single, locked-off shot, the main piece charts the new waters of the 2020 lockdown, whilst the epilogue (created especially for the film version) shows 2021, the lessons learned and the knowledge gained.
Produced by WOW! Productions Trust and Theatreworks Ltd as part of a two-year project called Random Acts of Art, to promote kindness and connection and hope in our community. Random Acts of Art: Resilience, March 2021.
If you can't make it to one of the installations around town - you can watch the film online (in either full sound) here. Or the film with sound and captions (for hard of hearing) is available here.
